Information needed to create a shift
When creating a shift, the system requests the following information:
Shift name (e.g., Lunch, Dinner, After Office)
Days of the week when it applies
Start time and end time
Shift capacity
Table time (estimated duration of each reservation)
This information allows the system to correctly calculate availability by time slot.
How the agent uses the shifts
The agent consults the configured shifts to:
See which times are available
Confirm capacity before taking a reservation
Offer alternatives when a shift is full
This way, all reservations are taken based on clear, predefined rules.
Benefits of the Shift Center
Precise capacity control
Fewer errors when taking reservations
Better operational organization
Agenda always in sync with the location reality
How start and end times work
The start and end times configured in the Shift Center define the maximum range within which the system accepts reservations, and not the exact time at which service must end.
This means that the end time indicates until what time reservations can be entered, inclusive.
Practical example
If a venue configures its availability from 10:00 to 19:00, the system can accept a reservation at 18:45 or even at 19:00. In these cases, the reservation is valid and the team must be able to serve it.
Operational note
It is important that the team takes into account that:
The end time does not represent the immediate closing of the operation.
Reservations taken within that range must be considered serviceable.
The actual duration of service may extend beyond the configured time, depending on the type of service.
This logic allows greater flexibility in taking reservations and avoids unnecessary rejections at times close to closing.
Summary
Properly configuring shifts ensures that the agent can take reservations in an orderly manner, respecting times, capacity, and table times.
