💡 If your Google My Business listing or profile already has an owner, you can request ownership by completing the following steps:
If a Business Profile has already been ✔️ verified on Google and you are authorized to manage it, you can request ownership from the current owner of the profile.
To find 🔍 the Business Profile you want to request ownership of, use either of these two methods: Go to business.google.com/add . Enter the business name and address, then select it from the search results. Find your business on Google Search or Google Maps. In your Business Profile, click Claim this business .
Click Continue .
You will receive a message indicating that someone else verified the profile. If you are authorized to manage the profile, you can request ownership from the current owner of the profile.
Click Request Access and complete the form.
Complete the form and click Submit .
If you don't see the "Claim this business" or "You own this business" link in your Business Profile, you probably already own the business. In your profile, look for the "You manage the Profile for this business" badge.
📌 Tip: The current owner of the profile will receive an email ✉️ asking them to contact you and you will receive a confirmation email.
🚨 What you should do after applying for the property
After you request ownership, the current owner of the profile will have 3-7 days to respond. To check the status of your application, go to Google My Business or click the link in your confirmation email.
If your request is ✔️ approved: you will receive an email notification and you will be able to manage your Business Profile in Google My Business
If your request is ❌ rejected: You will receive an email notification, but you can still suggest a change to the profile. Additionally, you may be able to appeal the denied application.
If you don't receive a response: If you don't receive a response after 3 to 7 days, you may have the option to claim the profile yourself. Go to Google My Business and look for the “Claim” or “Verify” button on your dashboard. If you don't see the option to claim the profile, it means you can't transfer it.
